Do you know why some adults like to watch cartoons? When they were young, they spent time playing games, toys, homework, outdoor and indoor activities, television, cartoons and etc. Cartoons are one of the good media that have nice animations and sometimes teach us the good things, so people of different ages like to watch cartoons. Many children have ever seen cartoons such as Tom and Jerry, Popeye the sailor, Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse and etc. All of them weren’t made by the same company. The well-known companies are Warner Bros. and Walt Disney. Walt Disney made a lot of cartoons and animations, for example, Cinderella, A bug’s life, The Lion King and etc. Most of Disney cartoon characters can be divided into 3 main groups.
The first group, Mickey Mouse and friends, is the most well-known in Disney cartoons. They are originally made by drawing. They are outstanding characters of Walt Disney. Their stories are told to the audiences for a long time. Mickey Mouse is optimistic, enthusiastic, modest, austere, honest and brave. The important thing is Mickey is keep on in investigation, so it makes Mickey like to solve problems without using the violence.
His sweetheart is Minnie Mouse. Minnie is a symbol of a female. So Minnie is womanly, sweet, sensible and intensely emotional. She always appears in the kitchen. The first cartoon of Mickey Mouse is Plane Crazy. Later, he appeared in the world’s first sound movie. Its name is Steamboat Willie which is black and white film. It’s about the music that Mickey and Minnie play. Moreover, Steamboat Willie is regarded the first cartoon of Minnie too. Mickey’s best friend is Goofy. He always follows Mickey everywhere. ‘Goofy’ means ridiculous or funny that is opposite to Mickey. Whenever Mickey feels depressed, Goofy always makes him laugh. Goofy wears red pajamas and a blue cloak.
Donald Duck is the duck that looks like a human. He has a white body, a saffron mouth, legs and feet. He usually wears a sailor costume with the cap and red ribbon. But he wears pants when swimming (He doesn’t wear pants in daily life). His outstanding characteristics are frantic, moody and nasal voice. His Birthday is 13-Fri (It’s the unlucky day). Donald Duck first appeared in ‘The Wise Little Hen’ which is sound movie and color film. Its theme is about generosity. If you want someone to help you, you must help them first.
The last one of this group is a beloved dog of Mickey Mouse. Its name is Pluto. It has light brown fur and long black ears. It is a curious dog that makes it always confronts troubled situation, however, Pluto is honest and cheerful.
The second group, princesses are admired like Mickey and Minnie. They’re idols of girl who dream to be the princess. Disney princesses are regarded as classic Disney characters. They include Cinderella, Snow white, Belle , and Aurora. Do you remember the princess who has graceful heart and a beautiful face? She is Snow White. She is sweet, friendly, cheerful, hardworking and generous. Snow white is the most beautiful princess. She suffered from her beauty because the witch envied her beauty. The witch told a hunter to kill Snow White but finally he released her. She got the help from the 7 Dwarves, and then the witch took a poison apple to her. After eating it, she felt unconscious until the prince kissed her.
Another pretty girl is Belle. She is a nerdy type. She loves reading and spends a lot of time dreaming. Other people think she is strange because she has her private world and loves to be in her imagination. She is a princess in Beauty and the Beast. The synopsis is Belle’s father got lost in the forest, and gone to the beast’s castle. Belle helped her father and she stayed in the castle to replace him. The fairy casted a spell on the beast because he judged people from their appearance. The person that could countermand a curse is a girl who had true love with him, and it had to happen before the last rose petal faded. When she lived in a beast’s castle, she felt about his generosity. At the last she fell in love with him and the beast became the prince. Belle proves that physical beauty isn’t important as she loves the beast.
Aurora or Briar Rose is another princess who loves song and nature. She has long blond hair, red rose lips and a beautiful face. On her birthday, 3 fairies and citizens came to bless a little princess. Two fairies completely gave wishes her. The witch spelled she to die before the third fairy blessed to her. So the third fairy wished princess to sleep deeply for a long time until the love came to help her. Three fairies spelled people to sleep and the castle was covered with barbed wire. Afterward, the prince came to help the princess. He fought with a dragon that impersonated by a witch. The prince killed it and went into the castle to help the princess. Then, she got up because the prince rescued her with a kiss. Many people think Sleeping Beauty is boring because she had slept for many years but indeed, Aurora has an interesting life. When she was casted, she was forced to leave the castle with her parents. Moreover, she changed her name to Briar Rose to live a normal life.
The last one is Cinderella. The real story of Cinderella is about the girl whose name was Rhodopis, a maid in Egypt. She had to wash many clothes while other maids went to the promenade that the Pharaoh provided. Afterward, the eagle took her shoe to the pharaoh. Then, he searched for the girls who could wear that shoe, and Rhodopis could do. The pharaoh fell in love with her and he latter married her. Cinderella Disney cartoon has the similar plot. Cinderella is an unfortunate girl, who was mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters. Her story appeals so much to many girls because the Cinderella story tells us that despite the difficulty in life, you can still find true love and happiness. Consequently, Cinderella is voted by children as the best story in their hearts.
Finally, Pixar animations are made by Pixar Studio that creates famous animations such as Finding Nemo, Toy story, Cars and The Incredible. it is now a part of Walt Disney network. The first story is Toy story (1995). It is a buddy comedy story, which is about a group of toys who pretend to be lifeless whenever humans are present, and the main characters is Woody, a fabric cowboy doll who loves justice, and Buzz Light-year, an astronaut figure. Woody always cares and loves his friends so much .If his friends are in trouble, he always willingly helps them.
Another popular Pixar animation is Finding Nemo (2003), It is about a little clown fish named Nemo caught by humans. The new adventure story started when his father looked for him. Nemo was a brave clown fish. He leave from a tank but he could survive and come back home safely because he is always enthusiastic and curious about the new things.
An interesting one is The Incredible (2004), which is about a superhero family. They need to live like normal people. Mr. Incredible is the rightful and brave person, moreover he is a family man. He became a superhero again because there was a mysterious person contacting him to do the mission to save the world.
The last famous animation is CARS (2006).The leading character of CARS is the red car which is faster than light named Lightning Mcqueen. He wanted join the race for the Piston cup championship in California. But he went to Route 66, a passage way for going to Radiator Spring. Mcqueen got to know the good cars and they taught him many things. Hudson car told him that “There was many things which are more important than the Piston cup, fame and endorsement”. Finally, He was the superb car and got the real victory.
In conclusion, Walt Disney cartoon characters are wonderful. They teach us many things such as good ideas. I present other facts about Disney characters that you may never know.
