Anecdote

            Cartoon is a film that tells a story by using moving drawing instead of real people and places. It was first created in twentieth century in Europe and America. When talking about cartoons, most people would think of Disney’s cartoons created by the Walt Disney Company, the world largest media and entertainment group. Disney’s Cartoons have been world’s most popular cartoons since they were created in 1924 by Walt Disney and Roy Disney.  Their popularity has continued until the present as shown by the list of Alice in wonderland and Toy story3 at the first and second place of the 2010 highest grossing film, respectively. As I remember, the first cartoon that I have watched is Mickey Mouse and his friends, which are Minnie mouse and Donald duck. The story had provided several motions of characters, including jokes. Several years later, a member of new Disney’s cartoon characters were created, for example Woody, Buzz lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, Lilo & stitch and etc. They were more colorful and realistically than those in the past. Nevertheless, Disney’s cartoon still maintains its identity. There is no doubt why many people including me love to watch Disney’s cartoon. There are three main reasons why I love to watch Disney’s cartoon; for entertainment, gaining valuable lessons and learning new English skills.

First, Disney’s Cartoon is a way for me to entertain myself after a hard day. When I was young, I always watched Disney’s Cartoons every Saturday morning. There were a couple of stories that showed on the television. They were Mickey Mouse & Friends and Aladdin. I watched them until I was a fifth grader because I had some extra tutorial class. I watched them only when I had some free times. Disney’s Cartoon is pleasant to watch. The characters of Disney’s Cartoon are colorful, unique and vivid. For example, Mickey Mouse always wears his red shorts and yellow shoes with white gloves. Donald duck always wears his blue formal suit and red ribbon. Due to these simple uniforms and colors, it is easy for people to memorize most of the characters. Moreover, the cartoons provide jokes which are easy to understand. You can enjoy yourself while watching them.  For example, watching the scene that Mickey mouse are running and suddenly dropped on the floor by a small rock, can make you laugh. Many people, especially children, love to watch them. They tend to gather in front of the television to watch and entertain themselves from cartoons. For audiences who expect for funny jokes, Disney’s Cartoon will never make you disappointed.  Disney’s Cartoons also show the innocence and simplicity of stories. In the past, I asked my 5-years-old brother what he knew about Disney’s cartoons. I was shocked for the answer because he knew all about the characters either their face motion or body language.

Second, Disney’s Cartoons is a way for me to gain valuable lessons. When I was in grade one, my mother let me watch Disney’s Cartoons. She told me about the acting of Characters which could be a model for me to follow. Until l was at grade five, my mother still let me watched Disney’s Cartoons but she did not tell anything. She wanted me to decide which is good or bad. They gave me more than entertainment. The Disney’s Cartoons are not only cartoons for me. Many schools use them to teach the students. Some teachers used Disney’s Cartoons to teach in the ethic classroom. For example, It can be used to teach the Friendship lesson that shows about the relationship between friends. The Disney’s Cartoons that shows friendship lesson are such as Lion King, Snow White and Lilo’n Stitch. These cartoons have taught me a friendship lesson through the characters. I learnt me how important a friend is. Disney’s Cartoons also taught the importance of teamwork. For example, Toy Story, one of my favorite cartoons, taught me to be a boarded- mind person. Furthermore, Disney’s Cartoons taught me to be a brave person. Mulan and Mushu are the role models for me. The story is about a girl who helped her father that was called by the army. The scene that she disguised herself to be a man and went to be a soldier instead of her father really touched me. This story taught me the importance of bravery and scarification for others.  

Finally, for me Disney’s Cartoons is a way to learn new English skills. I had huge problems with my English skills since I was young. I tried to find many different ways that can help me improve it. Disney’s cartoons are one of the several ways. I can practice the English skills from Disney’s Cartoons. They are simple materials to learn. The characters speak the clear accent which are easy to understand. Speaking skill is one of the most important skills. When I was young, I had a problem about speaking English. So, I picked up a Disney’s Cartoon videos and watched it. After that, I repeat after the characters in the videos for several times.  It was the basic way to improve my speaking skill. So, I want to thank Disney’s Cartoon. The last important skill is the listening skill. I like to watch and listen to the characters of Disney’s Cartoons conversation because they speak clearly. In the past, I usually listened to them to practice the listening skill.

In conclusion, Disney’s Cartoons really impressed me. They make me feel relaxed because they are pleasant to watch and have a colorful characters. Besides, they teach the valuable lessons including friendship, teamwork and bravery. Finally, I can learn English skills, not only the speaking skill, but also the listening skill. In my opinion, Disney’s Cartoons is the cartoons of the world. They are good for the people of all ages.
