History

Once upon a time, there was a boy who dreamed to build a city full of cartoon. The boy’s name was Walt Disney. In 1900 A.C., no one heard about him. However, his name spread all around the world in century later. He has amusement parks so called “Disney Land” everywhere. But now he passed away. All he left is only a name of a creator who produced a ton of cartoons. They can impress every person who first saw them until now. Today, they are many disciples who create cartoons for Disney to make this legend continue. Doesn’t the legend of 20th century interesting? It is because Walt Disney’s cartoons have a long history.
Disney’s founder or Walt Disney was born in Sunday, December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Walt’s childhood was full of adventures and mischief. His many of adventures were such as sneaking into a movie house to watch a scary movie when he was not supposed to. Another one of Walt’s mischief that led to his creativity included painting his home with tar, thinking is would come off, but it didn’t. His family influenced his life and helped him succeed. Walt’s Aunt Margret came from Kansas City and gave Walt crayons and art supplies. Walt’s brother (Roy O. Disney) helped Walt during his businesses and helped with Walt’s financial problems. Even through Walt had a normal childhood; he became a famous person because of his perseverance.
When Walt went to school, he didn’t care about his class so much. The important part from what he gains from his school was art class. In 1917, Walt was in The Voice (a school magazine) because he wants to become a cartoonist. Walt didn’t go to college because he already had the information he needed to start a career. He learned to draw in school which helped him in making movies.
He produced Snow White, Bambi and a lot more in cartoons that kids love and watch over and over today. However, he produced many of cartoons which no one knows at the early year in his career. Such as Ether Little Red Riding Hood, The Four Musics of Bremen, Puss in Boots, and Cinderella or Tommy Tucker’s Tooth, all made in 1922 under his “Laugh-O-Grams” label. Most of the prints were lost, so it may not be possible to find the exactly first cartoon he made. His first cartoon character he published was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit or the Mickey Mouse we know in theses day.
Disney’s cartoon has always evolved along with age of time. They were use the stop motion technique (is an animation technique to make a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own. The object is moved in small increments between individually photographed frames, creating the illusion of movement when the series of frames is played as a continuous sequence) in the early version of Mickey Mouse cartoon. At that time all of his cartoons are black and white until 1935. In addition, the story and conversation in the cartoons are different through the age. Some pranks and puns were developing after each chapter the cartoons. However, the plots of the main story of Disney’s cartoons were always unique.
The economic was something which always destroys the human’s dream as well as Walt. He failed several times during his career. One day he found that some of his workers were doing protest and the next day half of them quit which made his career collapse, but he kept going on. After the World War 1 was over, Walt’s work was financially depleted and he owed a lot of money to the bank, but with the help of his friends and family, Walt’s problem was fixed. Furthermore, in term of cartoons rival, Warner Bros, Marvel, 20th Century Fox and other cartoons publisher were there. However, Disney’s cartoons are the specialist in fantasy type cartoon.
As the previous paragraph said, Disney’s cartoons usually up to date and become a new in term of technology of cartoon. Walt Disney’s corporation’s CEO has much new kind of projects to develop their cartoons after Walt had passed away. For example, we can see Mickey Mouse in many of video games and movies, Bambi on the ice skate dancing and singing with Snow White and the seven dwarfs, Mulan on 3D theater and so on.
About the future project of Disney’s cartoon always comes from the CEO of the Disney’s company every end of the year. The Disney’s cartoon nowadays is using high technology to show their performance in cartoon. Such as Monster Inc, Toy story, Wall-E, Finding Nemo and the other. They can attract a lot of children in this era. These newly type of cartoon didn’t use the pencil and the paper to start with like Walt did in the past anymore because the CEO has created and modified the cartoon by computer on every process.
Finally, to make a good cartoon, we have to be good at drawing, imaging, socializing and hard working. But to be the one who own a cartoon which is was a legend that nobody never herd is another thing. We have to put a will and heart inside the cartoons and the cartoons will come to life. In my point of view, modern Disney’s cartoons were less interested than the past. They may be popular and obtain a large sum of money to the corporation but they look like the firework which illuminate brightly and disappear. Thus, the secret of Walt Disney’s cartoons is to make the story to be unique and notable which can impress everyone forever.
